As the vice president of convention sales at Travel Portland, I try to highlight some of Portland's green aspects for meeting planners and visitors alike.

There was a time when people used to poke fun at Portland Oregon. We were these funny West Coasters who liked to hug trees, eat granola and recycle everything in sight. These days, however, with more and more meeting planners looking to make their events sustainable, we're not quite the oddballs we once were. Planners appreciate the fact that Portland takes pride in being an eco-friendly destination, which, in turn, makes it easier to stage a greener event here.
