Hiking

Me_and_wahclella_falls_small

If you're thinking about embracing the true NW nature and want to head out for some wonderful hikes along the gorge or elsewhere in the vicinity you might consider grabbing a NW Forest Pass for $30. Most sites have a pay box where you drop in $5-6 but if you're planning on going more than a handful of times in the span of one year you might just consider getting yourself a pass and just having that in your car in case the hiking urge arises.

Passes are available at Joe's and online here: http://www.nwpubliclands.org/store_annual-northwest-forest-pass-national-forests-in-washington-and-oregon-only_09942.html?_kk=forest%20pass&_kt=e066bc80-3794-4ce0-8b4a-7f7700ec6fb9&gclid=CNnFyM3fxJQCFRwvagodxk9KFQ

Columbia River Gorge NSA
Colville National Forest
Deschutes National Forest

Portland Beavers

Get yourself to a Portland Beavers game. It's a great, intimate small-town park that allows you to get close to the action. And the tix are cheaper than visiting the multiplex.

For zinesters

Get involved with the IPRC. The acronym stands for the Independent Publisher's Resource Center. They have classes in letterpress and several others. Once you become a member, you can use any of their materials with no extra charge (although the classes do cost extra). The staff is very helpful and they have an EXTENSIVE library of zines and are a great resource for anyone that makes comix, zines, illustration or does printmaking of any kind.
