Fun for kids and great panoramic views of Portland
This is a great destination for kids. Children 6 and under ride free.
The views from the observation decks at the summit are great on sunny days, a perfect place to take photos of Mount Hood and the City.
The tram no longer operates on Sundays!

Ride the tram and fly right
Almost nothing beats riding the new Portland tram from the South Waterfront to OHSU. Take the streetcar to the South Waterfront, the line ends right next to the tram base station. The fare for the tram ride is $4 (return); on the hill 2 observation platforms await you. If you need a snack check out the OHSU cafeteria on the 3rd floor. For a little bit more adventure ride the tram on weekends. Then it runs at a faster speed as no patients and staff are transported.

Meet Walt and Jean
Finally the Aerial Tram is open and makes Portland one of the few cities worldwide to have such a cool transportation vehicle. Even better, here the tram serves a "real" purpose by connecting different parts of the OHSU hospital campus. In typical Portland fashion the 2 gondolas of the tram have names, one is "Walt" (named after Walt Reynolds, the first African-American to graduate from OHSU and one is "Jean" (Jean Richardson was the first female engineering graduate from Oregon State University). The tram stations also have names, the station on top of the hill is called "Chameffu" (means "on the mountain in native Tualatin language) the South Waterfront station appropriately is named "Chamanchal" (meaning "on the water"). So pay $ 4 for a round trip, take Walt up the hill from Chamancal to Chameffu, enjoy the really spectacular view over the city and Mt. Hood before riding down again with Jean.
