Evergreen Aviation Museum
The Evergreen Aviation Museum is home to the HK-1 Flying Boat, dubbed the "Spruce Goose," sprawls across the museum's floor, dwarfing other aircraft on display like the Corsair, the Avenger and the SR-71 Blackbird.
Designed during WWII by eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes as a prototype for transporting troops and equipment, the Spruce Goose flew only once yet remains a marvel of engineering. The monstrous plane was built entirely of wood - though mostly birch, not spruce - to conserve valuable metals needed for the war effort. The Flying Boat boasts eight engines on massive wings that span 318 feet, and the plane's tail towers eight stories high.

too expensive
I found the Museum to be way too expensive. It costs $30.00 for adult admission to both museums(not including the theater). If you want to see the cockpit of the spuce goose it costs another $20 for up to 6 people. If you want to see the inside of the bomber on display it's another $4.00. If you want to see the firearm museum upstairs it is another $4.00. they have a few interactive displays and on the day that i was there most of them where out of order. I would recomend that you save the $30.00 and just view the aircraft through the windows since to see more that that you have to pay extra anyway. Another option would be to save the drive and go to OSMI in portland about half the cost and a lot more to see.

Everyone is Happy
I went with my family to the Evergreen Aviation Museum. Some of us are into planes and some of us are not. The cool thing that we didn't know about is that they also have wine tasting. So while a few of us educated ourselves on planes and viewed the Spruce Goose, the rest of us sipped from one of many wines from the vineyard on property. They also have a nice gift store and the volunteers that work their are very friendly and informative. p.s. The wine tasting is free!

Fantastic
We went on a tour of the Evergreen Aviation Museum when we attended the Disabled American Veterans Convention in McMinnville. The Spruce Goose is awesome! But you can't take a good picture because it's too, too, big. A lot of history in the collection of planes. We'll go again next chance we get! Staff at the Museum are courteous and helpful.
