Restroom Confusion - Barley and Hops

The restrooms are labeled Barley and Hops. For those of us who don't actually know what the ingredients in our favorite brews look like, women go through the door that says barley and men through hops.

Don't worry if you forget. I was standing between the two, swiveling back and forth when one of the friendly regulars yelled, "You're barley!"

Great Place for a Game

Dscn4705_small

We went to Eugene City Brewery to check out the scene during an Oregon away football game. Oregon played Purdue on September 13, 2008, and we were sitting in the bar at kickoff, surrounded by friendly Duck fans. The bar was crowded with green and yellow while Dave helped us to tasters of several of their popular beers.

We tried the Juniper Pale Ale and Chocolate Stout by the mother ship, Rogue Brewery, and Honey Orange Wheat, Triple Jump Pale Ale, and the 200 Meter IPA, which are brewed in Track Town at Eugene City Brewery. Although I'm typically not an IPA drinker, I really started to warm up to the 200 Meter - no wonder it outsells all the other beers in the pub 3 to 1.

Recommendation: Try the Kobe Bleu Ball Sandwich. Four Kobe Bleu Balls stuffed with Rogue Creamery Oregon Blue cheese, served on Rogue-baked Hazelnut Ale bread and topped with rich marinara and parmesan cheese. Okay - so I took the description right from their menu, but it's worth it.

Tip: Women, you're Barley. Men, you're Hops. You'll see what I mean when you get there.
