Anthony Lakes
Pristine and quiet, this beautiful high mountain lake is wonderful in summer for camping, fishing, and picnicking, and excellent hiking through unspoiled mountain wilderness. Only small trolling motors, canoes and rafts are allowed on the lake. In winter, dry powder makes the downhill skiing here outstanding. Ski Anthony Lakes offers ski rentals, a day lodge with restaurant and lounge, groomed cross-country trails, and snowboard, lift and snowcat skiing. No lodging available. Exit #285 off I-84 at North Powder, turn toward mountains and follow signs 20 miles.

Anthony Lake Winter Triathlon
Whether you have the grit to compete or the desire to simply watch the action and enjoy the amazing scenery, a trip to Anthony Lakes for their Winter Triathlon, March 20, is sure to please. See the athletes tackle the snow on skis, bicycle and foot. I also hear the snow quality is good up on the mountain for Nordic and downhill skiing, even though it has been a mild winter in the valleys. Anthony Lakes is located high in the Elkhorn Range of the Blue Mountains in northeast Oregon. It boasts dry, powder snow, short lines and beautiful views from the lodge and lift. It is one of my favorite places, any time of year.
