Nestled in the hills of Southwest Portland, the Garden was once the estate of Rae Selling Berry (1881-1976), a famed patron of plant expeditions. Today, her garden includes the largest public rock garden on the West Coast, a unique rhododendron forest, and is now recognized as a national historic site. We are also partners with local and worldwide agencies in all aspects of plant conservation, including field studies, seed storage and re-introduction of plants nearing extinction.
This is a truly amazing hidden treasure. Learn the history and tour the garden. Ask about the seeds insured by Lloyds of London in the freezer! But be prepared for parking issues.
