Self Guided tours of the Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center, home to Ecotrust, opened September 2001, as a landmark green building. The building has become the first redevelopment project in the US to be awarded the Gold LEED Certification.
Originally constructed as a warehouse in 1895, it is the first gold-level LEED-certified building in Oregon and the first gold-level LEED-certified historic restoration in the nation, incorporating environmentally-innovative materials and techniques. More than 98% of the construction waste has been recycled or reclaimed.
