Visit the animals

The Oregon Zoo is a great place to expose your children to a variety of animals up close and personal. They have a $2 admission fee on the 2nd Tuesday of the month - a great deal. The food wasn't particulary healthy or appetizing and a tad overpriced for what you got. Discount if you take the MAX instead of driving there (nominal parking fee). Great idea to pair up the zoo with a visit to the children's museum next door if you have small kids.

Go Face to Face with an Orangutan!

WOW! What a zoo! From its current Dinosaurs! exhibition to the annual birthday party for its resident elephant, the Oregon Zoo doesn't miss a beat when it comes to good value for the entertainment dollar. Come to the Zoo in the summertime for the weekly music performances on the lawn, or in the fall/wintertime for Zoo Lights. Thourhgout the year, you'll find lots to discover.... The annual passes pay for themselves within a few visits, and are well worth it! Great for families and out-of-towners alike --- quite enjoyable for all!

A Work in Progress

I have heard comments that the Oregon Zoo is small. I find it to be welcoming and homey. It is constantly changing and progressing (I worked there in 2000 and there are more than ten new exhibits!).

It is easily accesible by the Max, and not too difficult to find up Hwy 26W.
