Rock Bottom's service is attentive, friendly and upbeat and its moderately priced, familiar American food menu features tasty items that range from Brown Ale Chicken and Alder Smoked Salmon Fish & Chips to Texas Fire Steak and the best BBQ Ribs and Chicken anywhere.
On a recent trip to Portland for a conference I had only a few hours to visit my daughters. On the filght with me was one of my friends who was also attending the convention so she came along for lunch. We met downtown and went to the Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery. I can talk fast but my twin daughters take fast talking to a whole new level. The four of us had a great time. I had the Salmon Fish and Chips and loved them!

I've long been surprised that this place has remained open as long as it has: In several visits, I've received consistently poor service, long waits and mediocre food. I'm not one to comment on the quality of the Brewery itself, since I am by no means a beer snob. I wouldn't return by choice, but undoubtedly will end up there again as it is often proposed as an informal meeting spot by colleagues.

I have been on a ew lunch dates to Rock Bottom, and no one, even the pickiest, was disappointed. My favorite is the stout onion soup, but the fish n' chips got rave reviews too!
I would recommend bar seating for one or two people during a busy lunch.
