BridgePort Brewing Company is helping to redefine the urban craft brewery experience. The brewery and adjacent brew pub are located in Portland's historic Pearl District at 1313 NW Marshall Street and produces a variety of international style ales, including IPA in addition to our newest ale Supris. BridgePort's beers are naturally conditioned in the bottle, keg, or cask from which they are served - they're never force carbonated. The natural conditioning creates ale that is smooth, naturally carbonated, and full of flavor. Other traditional ales in the BridgePort portfolio include ESB, Black Strap Stout, Ropewalk Amber Ale, Blue and Heron Pale Ale.
Atmosphere: 8/10. The atmosphere upstairs was laid back but with sophistication. Happy Hour type of feel if you would need a label for it. If you are looking for a hybrid of HH and dining, the right portion of the lower level is a good choice. This does not get a higher because the capacity available could become an issue if you are going in a good sized group.
Service: 9/10. I agree with Goo's explanation. Prompt service but not overbearing. A plus was the brief explanation about the beer sampler. The only downside was the delay in the sampler.
Food: 7/10. Very average because the lack of variety. I'm huge on the aspect of variety in that the menu should cater to your wants instead of you having to be more flexible according to what they have to offer.
Beer: 8/10. Above average. 3(ESB, IPA and Knucklehead) of the 9 beers were good.

I have decided to start a review in hopes of finding a diamond in the rough and letting everyone kno about it. I am in no way a connoisseur of beers this is just my flat out impression of atmosphere, service, food, and of course the beers there. I’m open to suggestions on more details u might want, so just post! I may visit places twice so updates may come, and all these comments are most likely based on one experience so I might have just gotten a shitty server.
The first stop was Bridgeport brewery in the pearl.
Atmosphere: 8/10, The lower level was more “Family” oriented as john puts it because of larger wooden tables and benches, more of your restaurant feel, where as the upper level had more of the bar feel with higher tables with stools, a projection screen showing march madness, and a full bar with their featured beers on tap. I guess its pretty much what u’d expect out of the pearl?
Service 8/10, Our server was very prompt, friendly and checked up on us enough times to feel like we were being served but not so much that it was over bearing. Although introducing her name would have made it that much more friendly. Food was out quick but the beer sampler took a little bit. She was kind enough to explain in some detail the order of the beers which was nice instead of just being handed it.
Food: 8/10, I ordered the Pulled pork bbq sandwich and substituted the coleslaw and beans for some fries. For 8 bucks it was actually very appetizing, a large sandwich and excellent fries that were crunchy on the outside and soft and potato-y in the inside. They also offer hand thrown 12 inch pizzas, hamburgers, a schnitzel, and very mouth watering looking pretzels. The shanghai chicken salad that John had was mostly greens and not much chicken.
Beer: 8/10 Bridgeport offers a wide variety of beers from light blue heron to their 10% knuckle head. I would recommend getting the sampler for 7 dollars to taste each one. Over all the beers actually weren’t anything too interesting and although u could taste the strength in the knucklehead it was probably my favorite beer because of the full taste that came with it. The IPA is worth mentioning too and I usually don’t like IPA’s.
Ya ya….all of the ratings were 8’s maybe with more experience I’ll get a little harder on the scaling, But in all honestly if 7/10 is a C and that’s average this place was above average in all aspects but there was nothing too memorable. Lots of variety of beer for the enthusiast, the menu for main courses is somewhat sparse I could probably count them all on both fingers. Over all it’s a nice place to relax after a hard weeks of work that’s large enough to meet people or just kick it with friends.

visited bridgeport brewing before i actually moved to portland. i would have to say this was my favorite brewery in the city originally until i actually moved here and heard about the renovations.
it fits the pearl, doesn't fit its old standards. loved the pizza line, and the sectioned off new version. went the opening couple of weeks and could not order a burger downstairs even though the upstairs menu had one...r.i.d.i.c.u.l.o.u.s.
still love the beer though! try not to trip on a beamer, land rover, or EGO as you enter!
