While exploring the Columbia River Gorge, be sure to include areas east of Hood River, including Mosier and Rowena Crest on the Historic Columbia River Highway. While in Mosier, explore the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail, a restored portion of the Highway that is open for hiking and biking only. From Mosier, it is a gental 0.8 mile hike into the restored Mosier Twin Tunnels, with two "windows" and great views up and down the Columbia River. Or bike this whole 4.6 mile section of the HCRH State Trail, to the Senator Mark O. Hatfield West Trailhead, near Hood River. The Twin Tunnels Visitor Station includes restrooms, interpretive information and a gift shop.
