Coquille River lighthouse was first built in Bullards Beach State Park in 1891, and later renovated in 1976. Mariners were also guided across dangerous bars with the help of this lighthouse. Parks and beaches surrounding the lighthouse are open to the public, in addition to the tower itself.

Ruined from red paint
Supposedly red was found in layers of stripped paint from this lighthouse so it was recently restored to an earlier color scheme. I agree with the many locals who find the new colors controversial. The lighthouse used to have a beautiful white/cement stucco.
Located in Bullards Beach State Park with huge pieces of driftwood nearby.

Enjoy the view
It is interesting to see the lighthouse up close. You can walk down by the jetty and get lots of driftwood. You can play in the sand there also. The drive is nice out there as it also goes by the river and a camping ground. You can have a picnic under the trees there.
I love to take pictures of the area at different times of the day as you can capture the colors and the mood of the sea and sky.- 0 people found this review helpful
