Cape Arago is located between Coos Bay and North Bend, and is easily noticeable due to its distinct fog horn. It was first illuminated in 1934, and stands at 44 feet above sea level. Hidden behind a guarded fence, Cape Arago is not open to the public.
This site has Cape Arago Lighthouse listed in a location it is not. It is actually in Charleston, on Cape Arago Highway.
Because Charleston is unincorporated and in a rural area, addresses on Cape Arago Highway often come up wrong on google maps.
Easiest way to get there is to head west on Newmark Ave (its in Coos BAy, off Highway 101 just south of the MIll Casino).
Follow that until the end and turn left on Cape Arago Hwy (you'll see signs).
Follow this road, you'll cross the Charleston bridge, continue on the left side when the road forks at Chuck's Seafood, and then just follow this road. Its a loop, so you can't get lost.
The best place to view the lighthouse is at a pull out a little bit past Lighthouse Road. You'll miss the signs on the way there, but on your way back from the loop, you'll see the signs pointing towards the viewpoint.
