A great play to stay

The HOliday Inn Express is a great place to stay. Be sure to spend the extra for a river view room. Watch the ships come and go as they make their way up and down the river. Watch the cruise ships arrive and depart at the Pier. The hotel is right on the (seasonal) trolly line. For only a couple of bucks you can ride all day and learn some local history from the volunteers that keep the train running. I great breakfast spread in the breakfast room, friendly hotel staff, clean rooms. It's the only place I stay now when I go to Astoria.
