Perfect Family Getaway

It was time to get away and isolate myself with family and friends for a few days, so we retreated to the central Oregon resort of Sunriver.

Our first day, after getting moved in to our spacious digs at #7 Yellow Pine, was spent slowly getting the energy to roll up to Mt. Bachelor. Once there, we enrolled our son in a 2 hour private lesson with our friends daughter and then the dads headed up to the top of the mountain while the wives lounged with the toddlers, basking in the warm, still and sunny air of the mountain.

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day and as Matt on his telemarks and myself on my board shredded down Outback, we stopped often to listen to the silence... and to catch our breath.

The next day was spent snow-shoeing and sledding on improvised runs along the snow-covered fields (aka Woodlands golf course) and we continued to relax knowing we had easy access to anything and everything (downtown Bend only 15 minutes away).

I love this place!

Best Place in Oregon

Sunriver Resort has everything! It's only about 3 hours from Portland, but you feel like you're a lot further. It's cool because you don't really have to leave the Resort, but if you wanted to go into town, Bend is only 15 minutes away. When you're done with your town fix, you can come back to the trees and river and light up the fireplace for the night. They've got a sweet spa and fitness room, 3 golf courses, and super easy access to all the outdoor stuff. I was there in the Winter and Mt. Bachelor was only 20 minutes away. Can't wait to go back in the Summer and just chill.

Sunriver Resort

Sunriver resort is a wonderful hotel in the woods with a ton to do for everyone. Rooms have a rustic feel and most have fireplaces that provide the place with a romantic feel. It is very quiet and quite relaxing but don't bring your cell phone since it probably won't work here. Use the facilities and have fun in the woods year round.
