  1. Let 'Er Buck

areback riding is one of the most notorious events in the arena, but regulars to the Pendleton Round-Up are no strangers to daring exhibitions. Oregon’s most famous rodeo (and one of the largest in the world) will celebrate its 100th anniversary on September 15–18

  2. Round-Up Concerts make a great Kick off event

Every year the Round-Up & Happy Canyon brings in a big name act for a concert. This concert kicks off a week long celebration that has something for everyone. Some past performers include; Rascal Flatts, Dierks Bently, Reba Mcentire, Joe Nichols, Leann Rimes, Sarah Evans. This year 2009 Rodney Atkins and Reckless Kelley will be performing and it promises to be a great show!

This is a wild and wooly western good time. practically the whole town is on holiday and its a week long party. Order your tickets and get your room reservations early because it fills up fast. Plan to spend the whole week in Pendleton because there is something happening from Saturday to Saturday.

  4. A real rodeo

In Eastern Oregon the real Wild West is still alive and it is best experienced in September at the annual Pendleton Round-up. This rodeo has a very friendly atmosphere, everybody is having a good time (especially in the bar under the grand stand, where people misbehave so badly that all cameras and cell phones with cameras have to be handed over before entering ...).
The skills shown by the cowboys and cowgirls are truly amazing. Ask one of the locals to explain the different competitions. Elimination contests are held during the week, the finals take place on the weekend.
If you plan to come, book your hotel well in advance!

  5. Let'er buck

If you come to Oregon in the first week of September you can not miss the Round-up and all the festivities around it. The Round-up is the longest consecutive running rodeo in the US. Since 1909 cowboys come to Eastern Oregon who is the best in bareback riding, roping, bull riding, wild cow milking and other events. Cowgirls compete in barrel racing and native americans show their riding skills in a wild relay horserace. The events stretches over an entire week with qualifications during the week and the finals on the weekend. The skills shown during all events are amazing although the round-up will not make animal-rights activists very happy. There are several other non-rodeo events during this time like parades or the Happy Canyon show. To get the most out of the round-up make sure to go to the cowboy breakfast (each morning), see one of the parades, go to the rodeo and the Happy Canyon show, a nighly outdoor theatre show that tells the story of the exploration of the West ad enjoy the many concerts that are performed. If you are really brave also check out the "Let'er buck room", a bar right under the grand stand that is open only during the rodeo. Things get pretty crazy here ... no details but maybe you can guess when I tell you that absolutely no cameras and camera phones are allowed inside. Everybody is searched and has to leave anything that resembles a camera outside.
