Everything Cowboy

Hamley_2_small

Wow,not being a cowgirl myself I can't imagine that you couldn't get anything cowboy you wanted here. They have been in this location for over 100 years. I ventured to the back where the saddle making shop is and the door was open. I visited with one of the saddlemakers. He was working on a restoration project but had a couple of new saddle's in the works also. He was very polite and took time to explan many of the processes he uses to build Hamley custom saddles. Anyone would enjoy this beautiful store that includes of western clothes, boots, many styles of cowboy hats, home decor, fine art, lots of leather and even thier own signature wine.

Hamley & Co.

Hamley & Co. has been in business since 1883 (in Pendleton since 1905). The store specializes in saddles (some costing more than $6000), leather goods and western wear but you do not have to own a horse to make a trip to this store worthwile. The building has been nicely renovated for 2.5 million dollars and hosts an interesing art collection including some huge bronze sculptures of rodeo cowboys and the local Native American Chief Joseph. The saddles are made in the store and visitors can watch the craftsmen at work. Don't forget to check out the saloon on the top floor!
