Beautiful on the outside, a little shy on the inside

I recently spent one night here in the King suite with the romance package. We were welcomed in the underground parking area by the bell hops. They directed us up the elevator to the lobby to check in. When the elevator doors opened, beautiful bright warm colors and rich fabrics welcomed us. The check in staff was very friendly and helpful. We went up to our room on the ninth floor. When we went in, there was a chilled bottle of champagne with 2 glasses, and a bottle of chocolate syrup waiting for us. We went to open the champagne and one of the glasses was really dirty! like someone had lemonaide in it and didn't wash it too well. In the package description it stated we would have a rose petal scattered over the bed at turndown, as well as chocolate body paints and brush. We called the front desk asking if we could have the turn down service at 9pm when we were going to return to the hotel after dinner. We also asked where the paintbrush and the rose petals were. The front desk said that both items were suppose to be in the room when we arrived. And she was sorry that it was not in there upon arrival. She said that they would put both items in the room by 9pm for our return to the room. I also asked if she could bring up a clean glass as the one was dirty.

We arrived back to the room at 915pm. There was a third glass, and the dirty glass was still there. That was ok as long as they had brought up a fresh one. Our bed was turned down, but no petals on the bed. And there was still no paint brush.

I called back down to the front desk and told them that we still didn't have the Petals or the paintbrush. The person I was talking to said she would let the front desk know and have them call us back. After about 1 hour, I heard from the front desk via phone. She told me that they were sorry, but they ran out of paintbrushes because of the kids program earlier in the day (I felt a little wierd that they were saying they use the same paintbrushes for kids as they do in the romance package, but at least they were honnest). She said that she would send someone right up to do the rose petals. She also asked if there was anything she could do to make it right. I asked for some sparkling juice of which she said she would send right up. We waited another 30-45 minutes and finally someone came up to do the petals. As he was spreading the petals over the bed while we were in the room, he said that his co-worker forgot to tell anyone that she used the last bag of petals earlier in the day. So the hotel actually ran out of petals. That was why it took so long to get the petals in the room. We did get the other bottle of juice. However the ammount of time it took to get over half of the package we had booked was very lax. On top of all of that, the room was nice, but the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling.

I was very disappointed on my stay at this hotel. I had heard good things about it, and initially was excited to stay here.

I think if the staff was more up front in communicating what would be missing in the room or what they were unable to provide, the stay could have been a little more relaxing. Or ... if the hotel is not able to provide what they are selling in a package, maybe they shouldn't offer the package?
