Breakfast at Mother's

Ratptlnd08_small

We live in Springfield, and travel to Portland quite frequently. I researched online to find Portland's best breakfast, and Mother's came up in the search results... so we tried it, and understand completely why they were chosen. They have a fairly extensive menu, and feature individual -- sometimes international -- mothers on the inside panel, which is fun to read. The food is delicious and unique, and is served in generous portion sizes. They have a tasty frittata that could easily serve two people! The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed... reminds me a little of French country with an urban flair. We have had wonderful people serve us, and it has always been a treat to go there. I do advise that you make reservations well in advance... the last time we tried, they were already booked full!

Livin' Large (OJ Style, the actual juice, not the Juice himself)

Mother's is home to deliciously sophisticated, yet unfussy food. Be prepared for a long wait for brunch on the weekends, but, if the weather's nice, pull up a seat on the curb and enjoy people watching and some sunshine. My favorite thing about Mother's, other than the corn-flake coated French Toast (crispy and soft at the same time, yum!), is the fact that a large orange juice is actually LARGE (one pint to be exact), unlike the 8 oz you get most places. It's not cheap, but I like their honesty.

Best Breakfast in Portland!

What an outstanding location, ambiance and food fit for a perfect Saturday morning! The service, home made hash and excellent coffee are the best in town.
