Kenton...home of Paul Bunyan.

Yes, it's true. Paul Bunyan lives in Portland, OR, in the lovely little far north neighborhood of Kenton (formerly the stockyards back in the day). Take the yellow MAX line north on Intersate Ave. and hop off at the Kenton/N. Denver Avenue stop. Immediately visible is a the massive, bearded Mr. Bunyan leaning on his axe like a papier mache project on steriods. Paul stands sentinel over the Wells Fargo, the recent addition of the MAX line, Kenton Station Pub and, of course, the Dancin' Bear Topless Bar. Look closely and you'll see signs of Babe the Blue Ox nearby as well. If you're in the hood in the morning, head up Denver Ave. and grab yourself some tasty breakfast at the Cup and Saucer Cafe. As evening approaches, Pizza Fino delivers a fine slice of pie. Then, head on over to the World Famous Kenton Club for cocktails and live local entertainment (or back to the Dancin' Bear!). Don't forget about Kenton Park just a few blocks west of Denver Ave. and the North Portland Tool Library in the historic Kenton Firehouse on N. Schofield. Come on in and check out a Saws-All or hedge trimmer for your Saturday projects. Kenton...such a tiny little place. So much to do! Who knew?
