Walking in Portland

Portland is the consumate walking city. The city blocks are 200 feet long compared with the more common 400 foot long block in most cities. Walking in Portland is quick, encouraged and is the best way to see all the small unique shops and restaurants.

Portlanders are very pedestrian aware and the police enforce a pedestrian's right right-of-way crossing streets. So head out on foot, jump on a free bus, street car or MAX train within downtown's Fareless Square and get to know Portland on foot!
