Stay Away

Please do not visit Candy. I was a first hand witness to the management discriminating based on race.

I was with a very diverse ethnic group of people who were all dressed to the nines. The women entered the establishment first, but when they got to the guys they told them there was a $30 cover. The guys, caught off guard, stepped aside to contact those who had already entered. We then watched a small group of Caucasian men enter without paying. I asked this group if they were VIP or knew anyone and of course they did not. I was pleading with the management to let the guys in, but the lowest they were willing to go was $20.

Our group was never anything more than polite and it was huge disappointment, being that we've visited Candy before. There was virtually no line at about a quarter to 10 and the inside was not even half full.

We certainly will not be visiting Candy ever again

Coming back for more of those lunch specials

Their happy hour specials aren't bad, but watch out for their lunch specials! By the end of my large one topping pizza with side salad and non-alchy bev for $6 special, I was ready to cry out "Love" all over the Pearl. The food was excellent (had to take half the pie home) and the ambiance flowed nicely. Large screen TV's make you think trivia night might come into play sometime soon, but until then, hop by for an upscale sports viewing experience... or to enjoy $5 margaritas.

Review for Candy

Located in the former Mercato space on the corner of NW Ninth and Couch, Candy serves up great wood-fired pizzas and juicy burgers - but don't leave without trying one of the new spiked milkshakes.

There's dancing after 11pm, on Fridays and Saturdays, live music on Wednesday nights and internet access all the time in the booths and the bar.
