Porters is a great restaurant right in "Old Town" - Downtown - Medford, Oregon. It's located in a beautifully refurbished train station. They still have the "Pullman" cars with pull-across velvet drapes if you want to really get that "old world" train travel experience. The menu is heavily oriented toward locally produced products: Southern Oregon wines, cheese from the Rogue Creamery, and so on. Highly recommend for dining in Medford. Check their website for hours.

A friend and I were traveling through Medford and had heard quite a bit about Porters restaurant. We decided to stop on a Sunday late afternoon and try it. Talk about a perfect experience! The interior is historic--it is a remodeled train depot after all--but has that modern cigar-lounge vibe (with none of the smoke!). The wait staff were fantastic. Offering ideas on which specials to choose and why. We both had the steak special and it was incredible. Paired that with a roasted red pepper (filled with cheese and crab), roasted baby red potatoes, and a house salad of mixed, organic greens, Rogue Creamery blue cheese, local pears and nuts. Scrumptious! Of course we couldn't pass up dessert so we shared the mini-coconut cream tartlet. We were impressed with the house wine as well from local vineyard/winery Roxy Ann Winery which located super close to the restaurant. Love that this restaurant uses a lot of local-sourced vendors for its dinner menu. No recession here. By the time we left, the restaurant was packed!
