O'Malley's is in my neighborhood, so I have been going there with some frequency for about the past 10 years - long enough to have been through a couple of gradual but complete staff turnovers, a change of ownership, and a couple of minor remodels.
Don't let the name fool you - O'Malley's is not an Irish Pub and has no pretensions of being so, outside the shamrock on the sign. This place is basically a classic neighborhood hangout - several (5?) pool tables which are free much or all of the time, darts, the ubiquitous (in Oregon) Video Poker, a good jukebox, and a long classic bar staffed by friendly people who sling stiff drinks.
They have several TVs, which all look increasingly antiquated as the bar has not sprung for giant flat screens like it seems like everywhere else has. That's OK - while you can catch a game on there, it's not a bar that's dominated by sports, and thus in this season (Football season) when it can be difficult to find a quiet pint, this place can still be counted on. Free wi-fi, too. They recently secured it - just ask the bartender for the password.
In all these years, I've only had the food a couple of times, but it was better-than-par for bar food. About the only downside to O'Malley's is that it can be quite smokey, but of course all that will change in early '09.
