Octopus Tree

There is so much to see here: Cape Meares Lighthouse, incredible views of murres on the rocks to the north and Three Arch Rocks to the south but the most fascinating attraction is Octopus Tree.

Park in the lot and take the trail to see this giant sitka spruce that grew outward before upward. This tree has a diameter of over 50 feet at the base! But it's not just another large tree along the coast...it's a huge spooky-looking tree! I can only imagine how eerie it would look in the fog.

The main path down to the lighthouse is a little steep but there are plenty of look-out spots & benches to rest on as you make your way back to the parking lot.
