Planes, Trains, and Bridges?

Harris_small

It was recently brought to my attention that there is actually quite a market here in Corvallis, not by Hewlett Packard or Oregon Forestry, but for bridges. Apparently there are three historic covered bridges in, and around this area. The first one is the Harris Covered Bridge located just off of highway 20, about 3 miles away from Corvallis. It was built in 1929 and is still operational. Heavy motor homes are not recommended. The second is the Hayden covered Bridge, just west of the town of Alsea off highway 34. It is also currently in use and was built in 1918.
The final bridge is the Irish Bend Covered Bridge, which is located across from Oak Creek, on the north side of the OSU campus. This bridge is open to bikes and walkers only. So if you are ever in the mood for some historic bridge seeing, come down to the Corvallis area. Feel free to check out the website listed above for more info about Oregon covered bridges in general.
