This is a great kayak tour. Drive west from Eugene towards Oregon Coast/Florence. Park along Fern Ridge Lake, mile marker 51. There is a small parking area on the right side of the road. When you see the Lane County Fire District marker, you've gone too far to park.
Put kayak in and go under the highway (only non-motorized boats are allowed), keep going under railroad bridge and you come to a three-way crossing, take the one to the right. It's like going into the "jungle", completely quiet with huge trees all around, paddle up for 60-90 minutes. Go early in the year, when the creek is still high so you can get around some of the fallen trees in the creek. It's very beautiful, relaxing and almost spiritual.
