Architecture in the Aurora area

The epitome of minimalist architecture and the model from which all subsequent glass houses were designed, this significant structure in only one of three residences by Mies van der Rohe in the United States.

Aurora is also home to the largest collection of Sears Mail Order Homes.

The Farnsworth: A MUST See

The Farnsworth House, nesteld in pastoral Plano, must be seen to be experienced.
It has been photographed multiple times and even appeared as location for Kenny Chesney's video last fall and a Japanese jeans commercial starring Brad Pitt.
But no words, no pictures can truly capture the beauty, the brilliance, the genius of this structure. The moment one takes the quarter mile walk into the woods from the Visitor's Center, you feel swept away.
It evokes feelings of great reverence, as if in a church or temple. The care to detail van der Rohe applied to this house creates the feeling you're floating along the Fox River outside, not sitting stationery.
I could go on and on about this amazing work of art, but you really need to see it. The story about the house itself warrants a visit!
