I went to Alu last night afterwork and had a glass of wine with some friends. The building is pretty cool, the back patio feels like you're sitting in your own backyard but people bring you food and drinks, which I am always a fan of.
However, I wasn't that impressed with the menu, maybe I'm just not adventurous enough, but I didn't recognize any of the wines on the menu, most of them are international. But what I did order was good. I didn't try the food.
There was nothing about this place that really made me say wow, which with the variety of places to eat in Portland is really a necessity. It was good, that's all, nothing amazing.

Very posh but not at all stuffy; the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. My friend and I enjoyed a couple flights of wine on the back patio. We didn't try the food (just some almonds and bread w/oil) but will return soon.
