Celebrate Chinese New Year

Fun for everybody, celebrate the Chinese New Year at the Portland Classical Chinese Gardens. Enjoy singing and dancing by local Chinese groups. They are as adorable as they are talented. This is followed by story telling and crafts for children. The story telling includes a great many props which the children love.

Best of all is a traditional lion dance. This starts with drumming on a traditional drum. 4 lions start out slowly, then warm up. 2 of the lions make their way through the audience before returning to the stage for a finale.

The celebration lasts over 2 weeks with a variety of demonstrations through-out including cooking, acupuncture, fan & sword, painting and a tea ceremony. Speaking of tea, don't forget to stop by the Tao of Tea for tea and a Chinese snack.
