This is an old Portland institution. Good for a beer and fried oysters.
Located in the heart of Old Town, where Portland began, and adjacent to many cast iron fronted buildings and the Skidmore Fountain in Ankeny Square. Portland has one of the largest remaining collections of 19th Century cast iron fronted buildings in the U.S. The area is similar to San Francisco's Jackson Square, except Portland's is larger and more authentic feeling because of the mix of businesses, etc.
The oyster servings could be more generous, but it's definitely a time warp from the 1940's/50's. Too bad everything is deep fried.
Order another beer, and who cares!
