I, as one of my colleagues has previously reported, was a bit disappointed with the experience given the high level of expectations. This was definitely no George's bacon double-cheese, and there was nothing juicy about it. Sure, I ate it, as I was starving, but I was hoping for a little more.
The onion rings were scarce and sorry. I don't think there were any onions in some of them, just deep-fried rings of batter...
Also, if someone wants to buy you lunch, make sure they bring cash or else they will pull the - "oh, I guess they don't take visa, can I borrow $5?"

For me, the trip to Salem with colleagues is MADE by the post-meeting jaunt to the Burger Basket. Forget the Roadside Grill, this place has it all. This is cash-only burger joint hearkening to the 50's era pre-chain experience. Handmade patties, giant burgers...don't forget the fried egg or ham on top. And the shakes are fantastic.
Forget the high expectations and get ready for a high cholesterol count. But don't forget which side your burger is buttered on. Just keep the Salem meetings to a minimum, to maintain that trim figure.

If anyone goes to a McDonalds, BK, Wendys, Carls Jr. or any other Fast Food Burger joint in or around Salem, they should be flogged.
Easily the best burgers and shakes I've had in Oregon. Juicy hand-made patties, great sauce, and generous portions of fries. Giant burger is quite large, large will suffice for most people.
Service is fast but not immediate (no heat lamps).
Keep in mind, this is CASH only. You'll probably spend $8 for average burger/fries/drink. I'd show up with a $10.
Avoid the onion rings, small portions, disappointing, and obviously not hand made like everything else.
Diverse crowd, families, couples, business folks, and one guy who had me wondering where the nearest exit was located (except he looked so wasted I doubt he could of gotten the jump on anyone).
There is a drive-through if you want to avoid the old-fashioned atmosphere/crowd.
