Look at the room before you pay, test the beds

Smelled a bit of cig smoke. One of the bed frames was broken and the bed wabbled horribly at the slightest motion. The manager refused to refund our money or give us another room, frankly the couple looked like a couple of drunks and had no customer service skills.

Every penny counts for the greedy owner

Now, I'm used to going to small cheap motels and don't expect the moon from them. A clean room, a couple towels. Sometimes I even bare with the smoky odor and don't care if there's no soap in the shower (I bring mine in case).

So, for me to write a bad review on a cheap motel means that this place sucks! The motel itself is clean and ok. But the manager, in addition to being rude, is a greedy little man. We check prices, get a $40 quote; go across the street to check on another motel (who doesn't do that?), come back. Get a quote for $100. I want to precise that it wasn't a busy/full night, no event in town, etc. He just didn't like that we went and checked on another place.
We stayed nice and asked him if we could find a middle-ground; he answered that "he didn't need any penny-pinching-Caucasian in his motel".

Well, good for him. He surely understand his customers.
