Delightful location with spotty service

This bar is hidden behind a tall fence, but if you can find it, you will delight in the magical garden outside and the smoke-free quirky atmosphere outside.

Lots of great hidden nooks in this place and fun art on the walls. A good place for a date or group hang-out.

The service can be slow at times, but if you are patient, the food is worth the wait.

All whiskeys are $4, which is a steal around this neighborhood.

Warning: This is a cash-only establishment. They have one of those expensive little ATMs in the corner, but you'd be better-served to bring along cash.

They close the patio for drinking pretty early (10 p.m. ?) to keep the neighbors happy, so be prepared to be escorted inside or have your drink removed at that time.

A Roadside Attraction

Roadside Attraction is a great way to spend casual time with your friends after a hard days work. Go here on a nice afternoon if you want to wear your flip flops and feel like you are at the perfect beachside hangout, instead of close-in SE Portland, but still hang out with all those friendly, world-traveled and interesting SE Portland types. The inviting, smoker friendly courtyard is full of benches so all your mates can fit. Dogs are welcome! The jukebox is free (and good!) The pool is free! Know before you go: this is a cash-only place but there is an ATM on site.

best patio bar in Portland

A lush patio is tucked behind thatched palm and vivid bougainvillea. Behind the patio is a lounge with a pool table, mismatched chairs, and jukebox. Menu offerings include kebabs, mixed grill of tri-tip steak, chicken, and sausage and crab cakes. I felt like I was back in Hawaii with a great music selection and still in SE Portland!

Ride your bike there.
