Tasty and cute
Willamette Noodle Company is a wonderful pasta joint. It's very small and often there is a wait so my husband and I usually phone ahead to order their yummy pasta dishes with fresh foccacia and a salad and take it home to relax with a bottle of wine. Their desserts are also quite tasty.

Creative Authentic Fresh Italian
This little hole-in-the-wall features divine, authentic Italian pasta dishes. They use fresh ingredients in creative combinations (gorgonzola ravioli with walnut sauce, or smoked salmon tortellini, for instance) that make this restaurant one of my faves in Salem. They have a short selection of Oregon wines and brews, and the obligatory tiramisu. It is very very small, though. They can barely seat 50 people and don't take reservations, but will allow you to call ahead and get on the wait list before you head out. It's the only way to get seated during dinner rush on weekends. Or you can order take out; I ask for the lasagna to go cold and bake it off at home. Bubbly, cheesy goodness... gourmet comfort food!
