  1. Inn @ Northrup Station

NorthrupStation is a departure from the ordinary. The room interiors are mod with a bold color pallet. The vibe is hip and fun. Get to know the neighborhood with its coffee shops, microbrews, boutiques, and world class restaurants not far from the lobby doors. Or, stroll onto the streetcar that runs out front of Northrup Station and explore a few of Portlands other neighborhoods. Streetcar tokens are free to guests.

Of the seventeen rooms, three are completely accessible and on the ground floor. These spacious rooms each have kitchenettes, office space with computer and wifi, and an inviting living area with comfy sofa and chairs. The ADA bathrooms have plenty of manuevering room and the shower is a roll-in with a 3/4 inch lip. Should you tire of dining out take the elevator to the roof-top garden where the hotel has supplied bbq grills (you supply the steaks) for a more home cooked option.

  2. Delightful Cajun Small Plates

I had the most delightful meal last night with a girlfriend at Tapalaya. We ordered 4 different plates - a shrimp special, collard greens, crawfish beignets and a wonderful pork skewer over blue cheese fondue.

Each item we ordered was cooked perfectly and had wonderful flavor. Our waiter, Shane, was super nice and quite hilarious. We topped our dinner off with wonderful bread pudding (though we were tempted by the bacon ice cream!)

I highly recommend this darling little restaurant. I can't wait to go back!

  3. Escape the Winter Doldrums: Spa Day!

Aequis Spa’s new location in the Historic Telegram Building in Portland’s trendy Pearl District, adorned with candelabras and rich Chinese carpets in warm shades of orange, red and brown, is a refuge from the daily hustle and bustle outside. Rejuvenate with a warm pumpkin enzyme facial, or relax with a medley massage that mixes Swedish, deep tissue and hot stone. Each treatment begins with a foot soak and scrub and ends with a warm-oil, Sambara scalp massage. Aequis specializes in Ayurveda and couples’ massage.

  4. Keep portland weird!

A little sketchy outside with the wandering "nightlife'ers" but overall a fun weird place to visit when in Portland. I suggest you get the random dozen to really get a feel for all the selections available. Overall pretty cheap, and open real late! Parking was $5 so be prepared!

  5. Excellent

The excellent service, delicious prime meats and extensive wine list makes Ringside the BEST steakhouse in Portland.

You also can't beat their happy hour. $3 Steak bites? Yummmmm!

  6. Side order of slop and service to match

If you ever need to satisfy your inner masochist, this is the place to do it. The Worst pastrami I've ever had.....full of gristle and served up with some bad ass atitude. My dining companions ordered differently and walked away with the same conclusion. Drinking a can of lye would be more pleasant, and a helluv a lot cheaper.

  7. Wonderful Mount Saint Helens Volcano Tour

Exciting audio on the road trip to the mountain! We never expected getting quite so up close and personal with the actual event, and listening to the police tapes from the eruption day really helped us understand the impact of the eruption!

  8. No fresh fish here

Many fish types offered on menu but all are frozen only! In a city the size of Portland, in one of the most historic districts you fail to offer nothing fresh? Salad and check please.
