Who we are

We love to travel.
We love to meet new people.
We love to go of the beaten path to find undiscovered places.
We love to share our stories, memories and recommendations.
We love to help other people have a great time when they travel.

This is why we built this site.

How we do it

We could not find the tool we wanted, so we decided to build it ourselves. With GoSeeOregon we give you a platform to find and share travel information and recommendations. We provide you with a networking tool to connect with like-minded people.

But for this instrument to work we need you help. You have to provide your thoughts, recommendations, warnings, tips and ratings. Your interaction with the site and with fellow users will make GoSeeOregon the best stop for travel information on the web.

Where we are

GoSeeOregon is brought to you from Portland, Oregon. This is why we have at the moment more information about Portlandthan any other city and this is why it is a good idea to check out the Portland Pages to understand the power and possibilities of GoSeeOregon. Click here if you want to see the Portland pages.

How it works

Some of you have asked us what technology we use to built and run GoSeeOregon. The GoSeeOregon websites are programmed in Ruby using the Rails web application framework. For the database management system GoSeeOregon uses MySQL, an open source database system that is well suited for handling the complex data of the site.

Where this will go

GoSeeOregon was released as a public beta site. This means the site is working and everybody is invited to use it. However not all features of GoSeeOregon have been released and over the next weeks and months you will see many changes and constant improvements.

The biggest project we are working on at the moment is the AlterEgoTrips (TM) recommendation function which will give you personalized suggestions for your next trips based on your interests and your ratings for places you have been to. So start rating the restaurants, hotels, attractions and all the places you know!

And forgive us if the site sometimes is still a little bit rough around the edges, we are working on it and you can be there with us to see - and help - this baby grow! Thanks for joining GoSeeOregon!
